Procedures for Applying for a VT CTSO Executive Director Position
ANOTHER CTSO YEAR HAS BEGUN!
The 2022-2023 school year is underway, and your CTSO Executive Directors and state officer teams are planning many activities, workshops, and conferences for your members! Plan now to register your members with your national office to take full advantage of the entire year.
SkillsUSA Vermont kicked off the first fall conference on October 4 at Vermont Tech in Randolph! Over 200 students and advisors took part in a variety of leadership workshops with 30-40 students in each. It was a fabulous opportunity for potential members to actively engage in workshops that provided information on SkillsUSA, leadership, and communication. Congratulations to Linda Randall and the state officer team for pulling together a conference and holding it early in the school year!
VT FFA state officers and members traveled to Indianapolis October 24-29 for their National Convention! Over 65,000 people attended! Members competed, attended workshops, took in a concert and just had an amazing time connecting with so many people from around the country. Thank you, Johnathon Mason, for taking the state officers this year while AnnaJo Smith welcomed her new baby back here on October 28. Congrats to all!
VT HOSA hosted their very first in-person conference as a new CTSO on October 28 at Norwich University in Northfield. With beautiful sunny skies to explore the campus and take part in workshops, members discovered many aspects of health careers! Lisa Bernardin, who coordinates the Vermont Brain Bee, didn't let technology glitches interfere with the telling of her own brain story during the keynote address. All workshops were well-attended, and students look forward to the spring conference!
VT FBLA followed HOSA at Norwich University in Northfield on November 2 for their Fall Leadership Conference! Designed a bit differently through the help of Norwich Business Department, leadership was focused in every activity. Two former VT FBLA members were part of the four-person panel at opening session along with a Norwich graduate who works for Amazon and a professor at Norwich who makes economics easy to understand. State officers impressed us all with their professionalism, on stage and off! Every member rotated through all four workshops before enjoying a delicious buffet while Commandant William McCollough and VT Secretary of Commerce Lindsay Kurrle continued the day's theme of getting out of your comfort zone. Advisors met to discuss the Spring Conference while members toured the campus on a beautifully sunny and warm Fall day!
Educators Rising members were invited to the NH Educators Rising TeacherFest at Plymouth State University on November 4. Although teachers from Vermont were invited, schedules didn't permit any to attend. However, Susan Ladd spent the morning at Plymouth State University with 300 Educators Rising members! The keynote address from a young and talented teacher who had overcome some challenges was riveting. Then a group activity and off to the many workshops where students could attend two of the 14 workshops offered. Next for NH will be competitions in early March and then another leadership conference in early April. Vermont teachers and students may attend either or both. Please contact Susan Ladd for information.
Additionally, if you know of someone who may be interested in handling a few preliminary tasks to get VT Educators Rising implemented, contact Susan Ladd at 802-685-4692 for more information on stipend, expectations, and details.
